Grading

I grade my students based on these three categories:

1.  Projects (worth 40% of their final grade)
2.  Daily/Weekly Grade (worth 40% of their final grade)
3.  Tests (worth 20% of their final grade)

Projects are graded by the use of rubrics specific to each project.

Daily/Weekly Grades are based on the following:

Students get a Daily Grade Sheet for the week.  Each day they grade themselves using a list similar to this one below.  Then I grade them using the grade they gave themselves and what I observed during the class period.

  1. The student came prepared (they brought their pencil, agenda, and Student ID).
  1. The student came ready to work and had a plan for the day.
  2. The student focused/worked the majority of the class time.
  3. The student followed the class Social Contract.
  4. The student cleaned up the mess they made during class (they put away any books, pictures or tools they used, they washed the table, and they pushed in their chair).
  5. The student had their completed Daily Grade Sheet turned in on Friday (if they lose it and need a new one they will lose 5 points).
Extra Credit: Students may bring home their Daily Grade Sheet on Mondays and bring it back signed by a parent or guardian the following Tuesday and receive 5 extra credit points.  Those points will be applied to their overall Daily/Weekly Grade.  It must be the sheet from the week before and back on Tuesday to receive the extra credit (if a student is absent, it would be due back the day they are back in class).
Test Grades are based on the results of the two tests I give during the marking period.

1.  The Color Language Test:  This is a written test worth 40 points.
2.  The Art History Test:  This is an oral test worth 100 points.
