Animal Sketches

Project Goal:  To learn how to draw animals realistically.

The How To:

1.      Pick four different animals to sketch.
2.      In class we will spend about five minutes sketching each animal.
3.      After the initial sketch, go back to each animal and add more shading and detail.
4.     Complete each sketch with skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.

How you will be graded:

5 points for each sketch (for a total of 20 points)
10 points for shading, texture, and details.
10 points for completing each sketch with skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.

For a grand total of 40 points.



Combined Animal Drawing
 
Project Goal:  To learn how to draw realistically adding some personal style through abstraction.

The how to:

1.      Pick 2-3 different animals.  Decide which one will be the head, body, and backside.
2.      Begin sketching your animals combined using realism and abstraction.  Make sure you are adding some personal style.
3.      Create a habitat (background) for your animal to live in.
4.      Show Mrs. Shepherd your sketch before you begin your final drawing.
5.     Complete your drawing with skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.  Make it awesome!


How you will be graded:

10 points for combining 2-3 animals into 1 animal
10 points for completing your sketch and showing it to me
10 points for creating a habitat (background) for your animal
20 points for shading, texture, and detail.
25 Points for completing your Combined Animal Painting
25 points for using skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.
 
For a grand total of 100 points for this project.

Drawing Practice

Project Goal:  To improve all your skills in drawing, observing/seeing, and shading.

The how to:
  1. Choose 5 different subjects to draw from.
  2. Draw each of your 5 chosen subjects in your sketchbook paying close attention to the shading (lights, mediums, and darks), texture, and details.
  3. Spend a minimum of 1 hour on each of your drawings.  This means 3-5 WHOLE class periods.
  4. I want to see growth from beginning to end so please date and number each of your drawings as you complete them.
  5. Complete each drawing with skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.  Make them spectacular!!

How you will be graded:
20 points for each drawing (for a total of 100 points)
40 points for shading (lights, mediums, and darks)
20 points for adding texture and details
40 points for completing your drawings portrait drawing with skill, neatness, good craftsmanship, and care.

For a grand total of 200 points.
